Global Executive Leadership Inventory (GELI)


Dr. Manfred F.R. Kets de Vries has interviewed over 300 managers over a period of three years. Based on these interviews a 360-degree feedback tool was developed that consists of 12 items. These items are (with a short description of what they entail):

1. Visioning: Concerns how open people are to new situations, and whether they try to look for new opportunities and see future consequences of events.

2. Empowering: Involving employees in the organization, and have confidence that they will perform the job given to them.

3. Energizing: Being enthusiastic and motivate people to do their job.

4. Designing and aligning: Set standards and goals and make sure they are adhered to.

5. Rewarding and feedback: Use of incentives to motivate people, monitoring of their performance and giving appropriate feedback.

6. Team-building: Forming a diverse team, showing interest in this team and making it a cohesive team.

7. Outside orientation: Awareness of stakeholders, and especially customers.

8. Global mindset: Being able to work in a global environment and adapt to different cultures.

9. Tenacity: Being able to stick to your believes and ideas.

10. Emotional intelligence: Showing interest in your employees and being able to reflect on your own behaviour and emotions.

11. Life balance: Being able to set the job aside sometimes to find a good work-life balance.

12. Resilience to stress: Being able to deal with pressure.
